I am 5'8, and 150lbs. Is that too much weight and should I try to lose 20lbs?

Im in really good shape, but I have some problem areas that I need to get rid of fast! Im going to the beach in a week
Answer:
At 5'5" a female is supposed to be between 125-140move the scale up about 3 pounds per inch so at 5'8" you would need to be between 134 and 149 or 135 to 150, you are near the top end but I would not say overweight, try starting off with small goals they are a lot easier to get to and more than 5 pounds a week is dangerous. check out bodyforlife.com its a great site.
losing 20 pounds in one week would b kinda fast. you should do some pilates! good luck anyways:)
150 sounds perfect for your height, but only you can tell if you're comfortable in your own body. For toning, consider circuit or weight training. You will build muscle which burns more calories, tones, and increases your metabolism. You can do weight or resistance training at a gym or with weights and bands at home.Check it out! It's fun, too!
Do you feel healthy? Do you exercise regularly and eat well?
If you do, that weight is FINE for your height!
Give me a break, that is the PERFECT weight for that height. Any less and it looks bad, I know!
This is how it is measured in Europe:
Your height in cm - 100.
If you are 5'8" then you are 171cm
So if you are 171cm you can weigh 71kilogram
71 kilogram is 142European lb which is 50gram more than american. So you can add 14.2lb to that to have the weight you should have which is 156.2lbs.As far as your problem areas are concerned, they won't go away with a crash diet--they'll be there even if you are skinnier. So why not pick up crunches and other exercises and work on that consistently? Crunches usually show results after 2-3 weeks if you do them dilligently.
You body mass index (BMI) should be between 18.5 and 24.9 for you to be considered a normal healthy weight. With a height of 5'8" and a weight of 150lbs. you are at 22.8 so you are at a healthy weight. If you lost 20lbs. you would be at 19.8 which is on the low end of the normal range. It really depends on your body type. If you wanted to lose any weight I would stick to around 10lbs. That would probably be healthier. However, I would suggest just focusing of exercising and eating healthy foods. You're not going to be able to lose a significant amount of weight in a week but you can tone areas at least a little in that amount of time. You said that you are in really good shape so I really wouldn't worry. I'm sure there will be plenty of people at the beach that are in nowhere near as good of shape as you are! Have fun at the beach!
