I am a female who wants to tone her arms using free weights, what weight would you recommend for a beginner?

And are there any exercise sheets out there explaining the number of reps etc that need to be done? Many thanks

Good Grief. . . can this really be a serious question from Not so Glorious Pipe Cleaner? Wow. . . LOL
I haven't explored this site in depth, but it is the female counterpart to a male site about lifting: www.musclewithattitude.comIf you search some of their articles I know you will find good information. Your first step will be learning proper form. For a beginner you will probably need 10-12 reps. Then you will want to drop the number of reps and increase weight after you get the form down.
You should use a weight that is challenging. Find a weight that you can do 12-15 reps with, and then increase it by 2.5 lbs. When you can get 12-15 with that weight, increase again, by the same amount. That should get you toned.
You need to do 15 20 reps to tone.So a weight that you can do this without strain. You do want it to burn to tone.Good luck.
